Aera Cabins operates its own on-site monitoring at 9466 Creekside Drive in Youbou: a Tempest weather station on the private dock recording temperature, wind, rain, UV, pressure, and lightning; a floating sensor off the dock measuring the surface temperature of Cowichan Lake; an IQAir AirVisual Outdoor monitor on the dock tracking air quality (PM2.5); and a BirdWeather listening station that identifies bird species by their songs and calls. Readings are measured at the property itself, not modelled from a regional station, making this page a first-hand record of conditions on the north shore of Cowichan Lake, 15 minutes west of the town of Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island.
